Hello my lovelies... :)
So the next day is technically later in the week but maybe just a wee bit sooner than you might have expected... !? Hehe!
Anyhoo, I've sorted and sifted through a mammoth amount of interesting (at least to me!) pictures of Tantallon Castle. Seriously, when I checked my camera at the end of the day I think I counted almost 150 photos! I get carried away like this all the time when I have my camera in hand, something I think my Dad despairs at... He always has a clear mind of what he would like to photograph and will only press that wee button when he finds it. Whereas I will click, click away at every wee detail... ;) In light of that fact you really should be considering yourself lucky that I have limited this post to just 15 of my favourites... yeah 15! There's a wee treats at the end, so if you persevere you shall be rewarded... ;)

Tantallon Castle is pretty much as Oliver Cromwell and his army left it during the English Civil War. They didn't succeed in penetrating the 12 foot thick curtain wall but the castle was left in ruins. Some of it still accessible from narrow spiral staircases which the wee man had great fun dragging us up and down! All the while I was completely mesmerised with the gorgeous colours and textures in the weathered sandstone. The sun shone all day and the stones just seemed to glow in the light... so beautiful!
Tanatallon castle is also a great vantage point for a stunning view of the Bass Rock. It is now a sea bird sanctuary for North Atlantic Gannets (home to around 10% of the world's population of this bird, the white top is white birds!) but does have it's own 'rocky' history... pun completely intended... ;) It also makes for a very childish but satisfying photo op too...

See, that wasn't too bad was it... !? So here's the promised treat, a couple of very adorable photos of my wee man... Hot and tired after that days excitement (castles are his favourite!) and then cooling off with a refreshing ice cream... :)
Hope you all have a fabulous day, with lots of ice cream if you like... :)
