The Australian Breastfeeding Association at BiMC!

The Australian Breastfeeding Association is Australia's leading authority on breastfeeding. Their mission is to educate and support mothers using up-to-date research findings and the practical experience of many women. They aim to influence our society to acknowledge breastfeeding as the norm for infant nutrition. The ABA will be at the next BrisStyle Indie Mother & Child Market on October 9th. They will have volunteers on hand to answer any questions you may have and they will also have a dedicated space for mothers to relax and feed their little ones.

The ABA's vision is for babies to breastfeed exclusively for six months, with ongoing breastfeeding for as long as mother and child desire. The ABA is a voluntary organisation made up of its members and subscribers. ABA needs subscribers to exist. You can subscribe over the phone, online or in person at group meetings. Subscription rates are $50 per year ($35 concession).

There are over 330 local ABA groups throughout Australia. Group discussion meetings, coffee mornings, new mothers' meetings, social events etc. are held in homes, halls and parks. Trained breastfeeding counselors lead these discussions and provide counseling. Visitors are welcome to attend a meeting before subscribing.
