Blogtoberfest!

Ok, so here's the shiz. Tinnie Girl is hosting her annual Blogtoberfest starting tomorrow and since my posting has become sporadic at best over the last month I thought it might be a good time to join in and get my blog butt back on track. Iv'e had a busy month with lots to show and tell and I've also got some ideas I would love to vet with my fellow blog peeps. AND since it is also by birthday in Blogtober I thought I might host my first Curbside Style give away and share some present love (more about that on Sunday). K-On!: Nakano Azusa 02

A self-proclaimed novice guitarist, Azusa has been playing the guitar since 4th grade. She is in the same year and class as Yui’s sister, Ui, and joins the light music club as their rhythm guitarist.

Although she does not understand the club’s tea parties and cosplaying activities, she has a weakness for cakes and therefore deals with them. Yui nicknamed her “Azu-nyan” after she tried on a pair of cat ears and meowed, and the fact that she could be calmed down at times just by petting.

The internet is amazing. So much to see, and so little time. Two new discoveries for us... The work of Ky Anderson, and Victo Ngai. We're so glad we found them - just gorgeousness! Big thank you to the awesome lumper blog for posting about both the artists, and in so doing, we are now all the happier! a question of style

Do you have a particular decorating style? Is it mid century, french provincial, eclectic, 1960's psychaedelic, shabby chic, post modern minialism, or perhaps vintage industrial?  funny thing about style.... there are so many delightful things in all of the above, yet I am unable to stick to one particular style, instead our home is a mish-mash of all of the above, not forgetting art deco, and beachside. Here's a little snippet of some old favourites, and a few new purchases since we've been in this house. I love finding "little" things. This is probably due to the reality we occupy a little house! Most likely.  

From left to right... Crown Devon Fieldings cup Made in England, a teeny little cup from Grindley, also Made in England, some gorgeous little espresso cups from slowcraft shop, and a Willow bowl from Johnson Bros, England.  I'm attracted to the tactile quality of glaze, the intricate patterns, the humour (as in the first) and of course, overall shape and design. So what is your style? We'd love to know what yanks your chain!

City Block

I recently scored a free box of wood scraps and in it was this fabulous old cedar block.  I decided to paint it and turn it into a "city block".  I think it might be a good block for the Vintage Wood Figures to hang out with.

busy, busy...

So after my two bright and cheery posts this week I have been spurred on to get 'busy, busy' with a new project I've been pondering over for a while...

Mostly I've been pondering exactly how I was going to go about it and getting together all the wee bits 'n' pieces I need to make it...

It's turning out just as I had imagined and I'm really excited about showing it to you...

But it's not quite ready yet. In the midst of my creativity I was stuck with another idea that just had to be explored a wee bit. I'm excited about this one too...

There are lots of things in the making just now and if I can focus on them, instead of being distracted by shiny new ideas, it won't be too long before they're finished... !
Fingers crossed that the rain clouds will part when they are and I can snap some pretty pics... :)

Contrary to Anna's own belief, Sawatari Izumi is not interested in having a relationship with another girl. Anna’s misconception was derived from Izumi’s relentless efforts to keep Anna away from their master, Nakabayashi Yoshitaka. Although she is the third girl to be hired as a maid, Anna cannot cook proper meals, which is the subject of many jokes in the series.

Kuroshitsuji: Ciel Phantomhive 05

Although usually appearing to be emotionless, Ciel occasionally expresses his concern for the well-being of those who are close to him. He sometimes portrays himself as a happy person especially when undercover, but soon returns to his true self. Ciel is highly reliant on Sebastian, his butler, and does not appear to interact with the other servants of the Phantomhive Household as often, although they are all devoted to him.

Beautiful cosplay! The attention to detail is stunning and I believe this an artwork from the series’ soundtrack or drama CD. Thanks to Kuro-chan for sending this!

Free math tutoring

David Freeling from TutorTalk.org wants to let us know that as a part of a promotion to launch his site, he's offering FREE tutoring on every Friday.

Here is some information from David:

Free tutoring will apply to specific classes, labeled as Free. Students should visit www.TutorTalk.org in advance and register, because space is limited. Free lessons cover fundamental math, reading and writing skills and are suitable for a wide range of ages, but especially middle and high school. Curriculum focuses on problem-solving, and kids are encouraged to play along from home and be prepared with a calculator, pen and paper. Students will also be able to bring in their own homework problems for small group tutoring, in classes of up to 5 students.

The site also says, "TutorTalk Classes are dynamic, interactive small-group classrooms, led by a qualified teacher, and hosting up to five students. Students work together and chat to solve onscreen problems from the comfort of their own homes, with the help and hints of the instructor."

Yay, I'm so pleased to be back in blog land this morning! I do hope you're all doing fabulously and had a great week last week!?
Mine was filled with some very lovely things with visitors visiting and some not so lovely things such as cracked water pipes and broken computers! But this morning all of those not so lovely things are a distant memory as I tuck into yet another 'Peppermint Cream' and tiptoe my way through all the wonderful submissions to 'all colours in'... :)
Today I'm especially enjoying all these fab vintage florals with their bright and bold colours, the perfect counter balance to this drab and dreary autumn day!
