the lights are on
The "lights are on but no one's home" is one of my favourite sayings. Perhaps because I find myself in this situation more than I care to admit. I'm slow, and awkward in certain situations. Don't tell me a joke - I won't get it. It will be an uncomfortable moment, where you wait for my response with an eager and steadfast gaze, and I will return this eager, and steadfast gaze with a blank stare - and red face. So, no jokes, unless I'm telling them. That's another kind of 'embarassing' where I can't tell a joke to save my life. But it doesn't matter, I'm always laughing my head off - right off almost. Not sure which of these is more anti-social and awakward. People are weird huh?!
On a more gorgeous note, how beautiful is the light below... for more see meublesetfonction. I'd like it in a big old factory turned residence, mixed with concrete walls, old graffiti, loads of texture, and some real life dirt, and mess! ie: pets, cushions, vintage and industrial setting. Coffee cup stains on the table. Nice :)

Well, that's the Sunday rant out of the way... hope whatever you're doing it is delightful, fun, and not a red face moment. big hugs! xo

love + bank + interior
A friend of ours bought an old bank as a residence (built sometime in the late 1880's), so we are off to a 'bank warming' this weekend. The place is beautiful - he is going to have so much fun living there. On top of this I'm going to take a few days off for a bit of a break. Below are some images I like, whose links I unfortunately can't recall. And a song. Just because....
Take care, have fun and see you next week. xo

Sweet As...
Despite having four million things on my mind, about as many things to do, I am trying not to do anything, and think too much. Instead, I've been doing nice things around the house, including enjoying this new purchase (photos of our festive dressed up house coming soon, it's not too scary by the way!) we have added. 'Sweet Garland- Xmas Dream' from 3 Girls + A Goat It's beautiful. I love the crisp clean colours, and delicate patterns in the paper. And it was so incredibly presented too. A real treat!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend... xo

big red tumble of love
It's my day off from my day job, which means I'm working around the studio, and catching up.... so much to do. So much so, I found myself wanting a bit of adventure, and even though I have quite come to dislike sewing, I took out my machines, and well, they did not drive me bonkers with broken threads, empty spools, mish mash mess with my overlocker... it was surprisingly without incident. (I did have to change the thread though - that was almost enough to make me stop! - told you I dislike sewing).
The part about sewing that I do like is what you can achieve. I think this is what motivated me in the first place. I didn't like the sewing machines, but I loved making the dresses, cushions, etc.
I don't think I'm ready for dresses just now, but I did sew some cushions today. This one "big red tumble of love" is quite huge. It measures almost 60cm square. Nice! Shown here with soft down insert, but I made more of these - smaller ones... I might put them in my etsy shop, but I'm not sure.... see what happens....

for the love of r e d
below is an idea I've been working on - it's all to do with tattoos, fabric, and well, psychadelic pattern. I have way too many projects going on at the moment, but I am enjoying this zig zag process. Sometimes you've got to go sideways to get to your destination - but then, who actually cares about the end of the road? It's the journey! the journey that matters!
