I knitted these eco-friendly wrap with a 100% Tencel yarn. Tencel is a natural fiber made from wood pulp from eucalyptus. Tencel is environmentally friendly because of it's ecologically sound method of production. It is biodegradable and non-toxic to the environment. Tencel has all the caracteristics of a luxury fiber: the natural, workable comfort of cotton, the fluid drape and color richness of rayon; the strength of a synthetic; and the luxurious hand and luster of silk!

Why do you like knitting?

Well, I did ask that myself a long time ago and found out that it relaxes me. Like kneading dough. Little repeating things.

Your best advice for a beginner?

I would recommend a non-expensive yarn and medium sized needles.

Reason: beginners usually are tense. Too big or too small needles would enhance that probably, giving the learner the feeling of frustration rather than success.

A website (or a book) you can recommend?

I learned to knit and crochet when I was 6 years old and must admit that I don't know any website for knitting nor a book.

Why do you like knitting?

I like knitting because it gives me something to do while I watch TV or listen to music. That way, I don't feel 'guilty' if I sit in front of the TV for a couple of hours, as I've got something productive to show for it!

Your best advice for a beginner?

Best advice for beginners is to pick a small item that can be completed quickly, like a coaster or a bookmark. Forget about trying to do a scarf, as most new knitters will get frustrated with the amount of time it's taking to complete.

This poncho is perfect for casual days as well as for outings. Wear it with an attractive dress for a chic effect, on a pants or a skirt for a classic look or on one jeans T-shirt for a relaxed look. Easy to take everywhere you go; it will warm your shoulders during evening or cooler days. You can wear it in several ways: take a look of all pictures.

I knit this shawl using three different colors threads to create a gorgeous effect (navy, blue and grey). Made with a 100 % bamboo yarn what gives it all his flexibility. Fits most silhouette (small to x-large) it is light to wear. Care: Handwash cold, dry flat.

Opening for the head: 12 inches

Length in the shoulder: 13 inches

Length: 23-26 inches without fringes

Fringes measures: 9"

I knit this Shrug/Bolero/Caplet with a 100 % bamboo yarn what gives it all his flexibility. Fits most silhouette (small to x-large) it is light to wear.

Bamboo is the perfect spring and summer fiber! Easy to take everywhere you go; it will warm your shoulders during evening or cooler days. When you don't need it just collapse it into your bag.

1/2 sleeves cover your upper arms, and the back drapes gracefully down to cover your upper back.

 

Flat measurements:

Opening: 22-26 inches

Sleeve length: 7.5 to 9.5 inches

Sleeve width: 6 inches

Total Length: 37-44 inches

Get out your knitting needles! Rug knitting!

I found this pattern on the web and I immediately wanted to make one!

A rug, made with cotton yarn....

I had to try...

This project is very easy, and still quite fast. It is knitted with a pair of needle 9mm and four strands of cotton together. It is made mostly with rice stitch. A small border at each end is in jersey.

This project cost me thirty dollars. Cheap for hours of fun and pleasure of having a rug made of my hands! 

 I have now a soft and confortable rug in my bathroom .....

I maded armwarmers for the summer! In the heat, bamboo is naturally cool to the touch, but it's also very warm in cold weather. Bamboo yarn gives a soft texture and a fluid drape.
But why bamboo is eco friendly? Here are some reasons:
-Bamboo is 100% naturally grown, without assistance for man.
-As the fastest growing plant in the world, bamboo grows to its maximum height in about 3 months and reaches maturity in 3-4 years. It spreads rapidly across large areas. Because of this, bamboo is known to improve soil quality in degraded and eroded areas of land.
-Bamboo thrives naturally without using any pesticides or fertilizers.
-Bamboo fibers is 100% biodegradable.

So, my "eco-armwarmers" are perfect for summer evening and to add a natural look to all your outfits. It is also a wonderful gift for someone you love...

Imagine that! When i don't sew, i knit.... I completely falled in love with knitting a year ago. So i knit at evening to relax.

You see here hand-made knitting that i present in my new Etsy shop: mâyapâr. The name of this collection comes from french "maille à part" that means "different stitch".

This winter, i knitted scarves and hats but when spring came and the beautiful sun has arrived, it was less tempting...

So i started knitting shawls. I have now discovered an indispensable accessory in my wardrobe! Shawls can transform clothes we already have in our wardrobe. It adds an original touch to a simple t-shirt! It allows us to brighten our look and add style and colors.

I like knitting so much that i bought a knitting machine and now i am preparing a collection of knit garments. I share my time between three collections:

-La Chiffonnière collection: quilts, rag dolls and stuffed animals maded with recuperated fabrics.

-AnnyMay collection: clothing and accessories made with ecological fibers

-Mâyapâr: knitting for unique personnalities

And no, i'm not short of time! My creations are made with fun, according to the available materials and according to my inspiration of the moment... I love what i do and my three collections are three ways for me to express myself.

Bamboo shawl

Bamboo fabric is a natural textile made from the pulp of the bamboo grass. Bamboo fabric has been growing in popularity because it has many unique properties and is more sustainable than most textile fibers. Bamboo fabric is light and strong, has excellent wicking properties, and is to some extent antibacterial.
The bamboo plant is very quick growing and does not usually require the use of pesticides and herbicides to thrive. As a result, plantations can easily be kept organic and replanted yearly to replenish stocks. The process of making unbleached bamboo fiber is very light on chemicals that could potentially harm the environment.
Bamboo is highly water absorbent, it will pull moisture away from the skin so that it can evaporate. For this reason, clothing made of bamboo fiber is often worn next to the skin.
Bamboo also has many antibacterial qualities, which bamboo fabric is apparently able to retain, even through multiple washings. This helps to reduce bacteria that thrive on clothing and cause unpleasant odors. It can also kill odor causing bacteria that live on human skin, making the wearer and his or her clothing smell more sweet. In addition, bamboo fabric has insulating properties and will keep the wearer cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

So i made shawl for the summer... They are knitted with a 100% bamboo yarn. These shawls are supple and light. It is ideal for evenings summer and to give a natural look to all your dresses. It's a wonderful gift for someone you love...

This shawl is approximately 65 1/2 inches in lenght (without fringes) and 13 1/2 inches in width. Fringes measures 5 1/2"
