yummy yarn lust...

Good morning my dears!
Today I'm starting a new line of yarn themed posts that I think you will love, at least I hope you will... !? I was struck with the inspiration when I saw this gorgeous shot of ban.do's beautiful silk flower brooches / hairpins...

I absolutely adore the colours and instantly imagined them as yummy yarns waiting to be whipped up into some gorgeous new project. Maybe a beautiful crochet blanket or even a pretty fair isle cardigan, one that has a band of intricate pattern just around the neckline. Just thinking about it makes me wish I was better with my fair isle technique, which at the moment is pretty much non existent... !
Anyhoo back to my idea, which is to find a whole bunch of yummy yarns inspired by said gorgeous photograph. So without further ado, here are some very yummy yarns for to lust over and maybe even treat yourself to... :)

~ Black Trillium Sock Yarn in Robin's Egg : SunnysideEllen Superwash Merino in Rose Blossoms ~

~ JunoFibreArts Sock Yarn in Dusty Rose : PigeonRoof Studios Pure Silk Lace in Stella's Plum ~

Happy knitting and crocheting... !

UK ~ National wool week...

Yes! It is the first ever 'National Wool Week' in the UK this week and there are tons of events happening all around the country in celebration of this incredible fibre! It is such a fabulous idea from HRH The Prince of Wales, a pro-active environmentalist and the patron of 'The Campaign for Wool'...

"The Campaign for Wool is a cross-industry initiative convened by HRH The Prince of Wales in January 2010. As a serious environmentalist, the Prince believes the natural, sustainable origin and highly technical structure of wool can offer fashion, interiors and the built environment many superior benefits. Choosing real wool - as the Prince understands - will also help to care for our planet. The combined efforts of the leading wool organisations, industry associations and the textile industry across the world has created a campaign to promote the wonderful properties that wool offers to textiles and in doing so, help to support sheep farming as an industry and the textile community internationally.
LIVE NATURALLY...CHOOSE
WOOL"

So today I thought I would bring you some environmentally sound and wonderful woolly finds from some very talented folk of the Etsy UK community...

~ clockwise from top left : Snowberry & Lime, 13Threads, strawberries and cream, A Crooked Sixpence ~

~ clockwise from top left : Knit Frekkles, namolio, makeyourpresentsfelt, squeaky elliot ~

With the weather starting to get a wee bit more nippy here in the UK, what more excuse do you need to treat yourself to something stylish, cosy or cute!? Or maybe even bag yourself a gorgeous skein of yarn to whip up your own woolly mitts!? Oh, and don't forget those christmas gifts... ;)

yummy yarny-ness...

so yesterday, while lacking in motivation and with a brain that felt like it was swimming through treacle ~ seriously, i have no idea what was up yesterday! every time i tried to think about what ever it was i was supposed to be doing my poor wee brain just couldn't cope and kept timing out ~ the same way your internet connection can sometimes randomly give up on you, so frustrating!
i so wish i had the excuse of 'it's too hot to work', but it's really not that warm here at the moment... or possibly even 'how do you expect me to function without chocolate!' but let's face it, i'm never further than arms length from a bar of the delicious stuff!
...ah well, we'll just put it down as one of those 'Monday' things... :)

anyway, so as i was saying... yesterday, whilst supposed to be doing lots of other more important things, i decided to start a new board over on my Pinterest pages...
this one being more of a lust list of squishy, colourful, yummy yarny-ness! here are just a handful of the yummy-est that i thought you might like... :)

~ nef lace golden sunshine : fyberspates ~

~ hathor lace in teal : wild fire fibres ~

~ olive you : dyeabolical yarns ~

~ water studies #53 : sundara yarn ~

~ crime of passion : fearless fibres ~

i'm sure you'll be pleased to know my brain felt much happier and far more alert after being treated to such visual yummy-ness... ;)

good intentions...

...okay, so this week all my good intentions have gone completely to pot! the week got off to a really great start on monday with not just a blog post but a bit of granny cushion finishing too...

...but then i got distracted on tuesday with a trip up to St Andrews to meet some wonderful friends who i haven't seen in a wee while. although i did manage to salvage the day by finding a great little yarn shop tucked away down an alley (it wasn't a dark alley as it was bright sunny, scottish, summers day ~ try saying that in a hurry!)...

...anyhoo, my stash is now boasting a lovely lambswool and cashmere blend from this scottish company, who have only recently began producing yarns rather than just fabrics. these two colours were my favourites ~ Juno and Lissa ~ there was also a gorgeous silvery grey but that will have to wait till my next trip... *sigh*

...then on wednesday i was a good girl again and put together some tags for the previously mentioned granny cushions, i also snapped some sneaky peek pics of a few of the things i've been working on lately ~ actually i got tons of pics but most of them were rubbish due to the dreary, rainy day light :(

...and yesterday (that is thursday) i had intended to tweak those dreary pics and write a wee blog post, but i got sucked in by ravelry and flickr and the need to show off my new yarns to the world...

...anyway, there i was drooling over all the knitting, crochet and yummy yarn groups on flickr when it suddenly dawned on me that there weren't any dedicated to solid coloured yarns, my favourites... *collective gasp* ...well, what was a girl to do but start a new group?

...introducing ~ ■ knit ■ solid ■ yarn ■...

...so if like me you're a sucker for deep rich reds, mysterious charcoal greys, soft silvery blues or even hot sunny yellows and fresh grassy greens, then pop over and share your yummy pics :)

...and today? well today i blogged about it all, not that it was very much at all really ;)
...

...anyway i shall be back soon with some teaser pics to prove that some creativity has been happening, then i may be able to justify the awards some lovely ladies have been gracious enough to give me recently...
